Liberal Oregon Christians Push for 2nd Amendment Restrictions
The 2nd Amendment is absolutely vital for liberty. The Bible affirms this by way of example. In 1 Samuel, God warns against the iron monopoly of rulers. Philistine oppressors forbade Israelites from owning iron weapons. The tactic of restricting weapons as a means to enable tyranny has been repeated throughout history, notably in Nazi Germany and Venezuela. Our founders understood this, and thus put the right to bear arms in our bill of rights. They knew that an armed citizenry was needful to protect free speech, freedom of religion, etc.
Additionally, the Bible is clear that we have an obligation to protect ourselves, our families, and our property from attack.
