October 31st
Have a great:
- “Durga, festival of the dead”
- “Egyptian Athyr (Osiris in a box) Day”
- “Aboriginal Australian paint skeletal white lines on your body day”
- “Incan Ayamarka carrying of a corpse day”
- Mexican Day of the Dead”
- French “Le Jour des Morts” etc……..
All of these are commemorations of the world wide flood in late October. Today is the reminder of God’s great wrath poured out against evil oppressors. It is a good thing to commemorate and remember God’s deliverance of the righteous and His justice and wrath, particularly in a culture that reduces God to a buttercup, and revels in humanism.
It is also, though, a day (and evening!) in which we rejoice in the One who came to redeem us from death. In Christ, we can laugh at our enemies, and at death itself. What a Savior!
