Rep. Kurt Schrader’s Dual Vulnerabilities

Rep. Kurt Schrader has spent the last ten years representing Oregon’s 5th Congressional district. If there is one Democrat incumbent Congressman Republicans might unseat, it would be this one. Among other areas, it covers Lincoln, Marion, and Polk counties, as well as most of Clackamas County, Schrader, a moderate, will be opposed in the Democrat primary by Milwaukie Mayor Mark Gamba. Gamba is a very far left AOC sort of radical.

In the past week or so, Schrader made it known that he might favor censuring Trump rather than impeachment. But with his left flank exposed, a vote against impeachment would have likely killed him in the primary.

At the same time, his vote for impeachment will make him more vulnerable than ever in November’s general election. This is a great opportunity.

One of the reasons Schrader has survived as long as he has is the lack of solid Republican candidates. This year it is more important than ever for a Republican to challenge Schrader. Who knows? Victory here may mean the demise of Nancy Pelosi as Speaker! We’ll keep you posted.
